Who we are
roosty is operated by MEWS BEAUTY, LLC, a Florida limited liability company. When this policy says "we," "us," or "roosty," that's us. When it says "you," it's you — the person using the app or browsing this website.
What we collect
We collect only what's needed for roosty to work as a household-coordination app.
Account information
- Your email address (used to sign in)
- Your password (stored securely as a one-way hash — even we can't read it)
- Your display name (whatever you typed when signing up)
- Account creation date
Household and family data
- The household name and invite code you create or join
- Family member names, colors, emoji, and (optionally) birthdays
- Any tasks, events, or notes you add — including titles, dates, times, descriptions, owners, and completion status
- Photos you attach to tasks, stored alongside the related task
- Trophy and streak data tracked from your in-app activity
Notifications
- If you turn on notifications, we store a device "push token" (an anonymous ID for your phone) so we can send you reminders and so people in your household can send you gentle nudges. When someone sends you a nudge, the task name and the sender's first name are included so you know what it's about.
Website waitlist (optional)
- If you enter your email in the "Be first to know" form on this website, we store that email for one reason: to send you a single note when roosty is ready. You can ask us to remove it at any time by emailing hi@getroosty.com.
What we do NOT collect
- Your contacts, calendar, location, browsing history, or anything else outside the app
- Advertising identifiers or tracking pixels
- Health, financial, or biometric data
- Anything from outside roosty itself
How we use your data
We use the data we collect for one thing: to run roosty for you. Specifically:
- To sign you in and keep you signed in
- To sync your household's tasks and family info between devices in real time
- To award trophies and track streaks based on what you complete
- To send you account-related emails (e.g., password resets). We don't run marketing campaigns — the only non-account email we ever send is the single launch notification you asked for if you joined the website waitlist
We never use your data for advertising, profiling, or anything not directly related to running the app.
Who else can see your data
The short answer: only people you've invited to your household, plus the trusted services that help run the app.
People in your household
Anyone who joins your household using your invite code can see and edit the household's tasks, family members, photos, and notes. That's the whole point — it's a shared roost.
Service providers
We use Google Firebase (a Google service) to handle authentication and store your household's data securely. Google processes this data on our behalf under their standard data-processing terms. They do not use your roosty data for advertising.
We use Vercel to host this website. Vercel may collect basic anonymous request logs (IP addresses, request times) for their own infrastructure — this is standard for any website. Vercel never sees your account or household data; that's stored separately on Firebase.
We use Apple to deliver the app via the App Store. Apple may collect standard download and crash-reporting data per its developer agreement.
We use Formspree to handle the email signup form on this website. If you join our waitlist, Formspree processes that form submission so your email reaches us. They don't use your email for anything else.
We use Expo to deliver push notifications (reminders and nudges) to your device. When a notification is sent, Expo processes your device's push token and the notification text so it can route the message to your phone. Expo does not use this for anything else.
What we never do
- We never sell your data.
- We never share it with advertisers, data brokers, or third-party marketers.
- We never give it to anyone except as listed above, unless legally required (e.g., a court order).
Where your data is stored
roosty runs on Google Firebase, so your household's data is stored on secure servers in the United States. If you use roosty from outside the US (for example, in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland), your information is transferred to and processed in the US. When data crosses borders like this, we rely on standard legal safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, to keep it protected. Wherever you are, the same care and the same rules in this policy apply.
How long we keep your data
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we delete your account information, household data, and any associated tasks, members, and photos. Some routine backup logs may persist for up to 30 days before being purged automatically.
Deleting your account
You can permanently delete your roosty account right inside the app, any time, in a few taps. Open the Family tab, scroll to the bottom, and tap Delete account. We'll ask you to confirm and re-enter your password first, so it can't happen by accident.
When you delete your account, we permanently remove your account information and your personal data. If you're the last member of a household, that whole household and its tasks, members, and photos are deleted too. If other people still share that household, only your own account and member entry are removed, and the shared household stays intact for them.
Prefer to have us do it for you? Email hi@getroosty.com and we'll take care of it. Either way, some routine backup logs may persist for up to 30 days before being purged automatically.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- See what data we have about you
- Correct any inaccurate data
- Delete your account and everything associated with it
- Export a copy of your household's data (email us and we'll send it)
- Withdraw consent at any time
You can delete your account directly in the app at any time (open the Family tab, then tap Delete account). To exercise any of the other rights above, email hi@getroosty.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
If you're in the European Economic Area, the UK, or California, you also have rights under the GDPR or CCPA. Same email — we honor those rights for everyone, regardless of where you live.
Children
You must be at least 13 years old to create a roosty account. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you're between 13 and 18, we ask that you get your parent or guardian's permission before signing up.
Parents can add their kids' names, emoji, and birthdays as members of a household — those are just labels and reminders that live inside your private household. Kids being listed as members does not give them their own roosty account or any login credentials.
If you believe we've inadvertently collected personal data from a child under 13, please email us and we'll delete it promptly.
Security
We use industry-standard security practices: encrypted connections (HTTPS), encrypted-at-rest databases (via Firebase), strict access rules so only members of your household can read or write your household's data, and password hashing so no one — including us — can read your password.
No system is 100% bulletproof. If we ever discover a security incident affecting your data, we'll notify you promptly and explain what happened.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. Small wording fixes won't trigger a notice.
